Finnish Indie Pop/Rock Artist PEPPINA Makes Triumphant Return To Sundance 2016 With Multiple Performances in Park City
Performs Three Feature Showcases at the Festival Base Camp, Arctic Blast Party and Sundance ASCAP Music Café
Performance Video of “Keep This Love Alive” Drops from New Self-Titled LP
Debut Recording Artist on Honey Rose Records

(Park City, UT, January 19, 2016)--Breakthrough multi-instrumentalist, Finnish indie pop/rock artist, Peppina, returns to Park City during the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. On Friday, January 22nd at 8pm, Peppina performs with members of Seattle indie outfit Motopony at the official Festival Base Camp Presented by Canada Goose, located at 475 Swede Alley (corner of Swede and Heber). Peppina will be the first artist to ever grace this brand-new venue’s stage, opening for Japanese rock icon Yoshiki of the group X Japan, who are headlining Base Camp in celebration of their documentary WE ARE X.  Shortly thereafter, she will perform at Earth Day Network’s Arctic Blast Event, located at The Music Lodge, 780 Main Street, at 9:30pm. Then, on Monday, January 25th at 4:20pm, she will be at the Sundance ASCAP Music Café, located at 751 Main Street, again performing along with frequent collaborators Motopony. Peppina has become a very in-demand artist and expects to move to the States this year and tour in celebration of her new self-titled LP.

Adept on guitar, piano, and ukulele, Peppina will perform songs from her upcoming self titled release on Morey Levovitz's new Honey Rose Records. Currently in production between Brooklyn and Los Angeles with producer Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields, Soko, The Bones of J.R Jones), the record continues in the spirit of her debut EP "Follow Your Gravity" with its epic soaring textures and emotive vocal performances and lyrics. The touring band for the Park City Shows includes Charles Newman of Mother West on keyboards; Kris Gruen (son of rock photographer Bob Gruen) on guitars and vocals; Paul Casanova (Gloria Gaynor, Of Earth) on guitar; Matt Basile of Mother Feather on bass; and Motopony’s Forrest Mauvais on drums.

Peppina’s breakthrough came through HitRecord ( the innovative open collaboration website and production company founded by acclaimed actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (DARK KNIGHT RISES; INCEPTION). Peppina’s pure, intimate vocals and clever lyrics captivated Gordon-Levitt, who invited her to Los Angeles to perform her entrancing round “We Can Go Back Again” live before thousands.  Two of her songs were featured on the show HitRecord on TV, which aired on Pivot Network and went on to win an EmmyÒ for Creative Achievement in Interactive Media.  And at Sundance 2014, she performed duets with Joe at the Pivot Network reception celebrating the HitRecord TV series (she performed with Joe in the finale).

Peppina released her debut EP Follow Your Gravity, recorded in New York, to critical acclaim. Rob Ross from Popdose hailed Peppina as “’natural’ sounding and exudes a sweetness that fits the songs, which are well-structured, lush at times and highly melodic.” He explains, “If this is Peppina’s first offering, she’s due for a long career – at least I hope so.  Quality songwriting, emotional but restrained vocals and memorable songs will always be the order of the day.” ThatMusic Mag called the album “poignant.  Gentle, ethereal melodies and lilting vocals characterize all of Follow Your Gravity. Rating: “iconic’”

Peppina returned to Park City in 2015 as a featured artist at the Cider House Sessions within the New York Lounge on Main Street.  Label owner Morey Levovitz recalls, “seeing Peppina in 2015 was an inspiration for me.  So much so, I decided to found the label (Honey Rose Records) and honor Peppina by making her its debut artist.”  Levovitz is a Park City resident.

Film director Danny Kaufman was also in the audience at Cider House. When Danny heard her perform “We Can Go Back Again” live, he knew he had the closing song for his upcoming feature film MARRIED YOUNG starring Gary Cole of HBO’s Emmy award winning comedy Veep.  Kaufman then asked her to write another song for one of the film’s montages and “Keep This Love Alive” was born; it will be the first video from her EP and will be featured on the upcoming MARRIED YOUNG soundtrack.  Here’s the video below, which releases [date]:

Peppina is thrilled to return to Sundance in order to share her music with an international audience. She says, “When I first played at Sundance in 2014, I knew it was going to be a huge opportunity, but I had no idea just how much it would change my life. If someone had told me back then, that in two years I'll be performing at the festival for the THIRD time, at venues like ASCAP Music Café and the Sundance official Basecamp venue... I wouldn't have believed it. I can still barely believe it!! I've learned that anything can happen at Sundance, and I can't wait to see what this year's festival will bring along!”
